STEM boot camp at SMK Lanang Digital Maker Hub

In line with the direction of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and STEM education, School of Computing and Creative Media (SCM) in collaboration with Marketing Department had organized a 3-day boot camp at SMK Lanang Digital Maker Hub.

The objectives of this boot camp are:

  • To inspire interest in STEM and to cultivate digital innovation among the school students since young;
  • To develop life skills, such as problem-solving, creative thinking, collaboration and life-long learning through technology to prepare them for future jobs;
  • To build and maintain good relations with the secondary school teachers to promote digital maker movements.

Thirty one secondary students and ten teachers participated in this boot camp. This camp was led by Eileen Ong Sing Ling, Barbara Anak Dieo, Muhammad Asraf Bin Zulkarnain and facilitated by one UCTS undergraduate, Elton Wong. A Chumbaka trainer, Dr. Xavier was invited to be one of the judges. The principal of SMK Lanang, Mr. Kho Say Wei, provided the prizes for this camp. The students had successfully applied design thinking process to create innovation projects and shared their project ideas in pitching sessions.
