SMK Rosli Dhoby launched a five-day carnival from 3rd to 8th July 2023 to boost students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The School of Computing and Creative Media (SCM) was invited by SMK Rosli Dhoby to co-organise the STEM Carnival in conjunction with ReTEx 2023. The honourable advisor for this event was Dr. Alan Ting. This event was led by Eileen Ong Sing Ling and the team members: Dr. Tiong Meng Chung, Chang Wui Lee, Khairunnisa Ibrahim, Marcella Peter, Nur Atiqah Binti Zaini, Jackie Ting, Ts. Vanden Micheal and Mohammad Suffian Bin Abdul Kadir.
Among the STEM activities, SCM held robotics, 3D printing, Chemistry in Augmented Reality, 2D Animation with Adobe Animate, computing game wheels, and drone simulators, as well as UTS programmes information sharing, as one of our marketing and promotional activities. The STEM activities exposed students to STEM subjects and promoted project-based learning in STEM, while highlighting the practical application of STEM knowledge in everyday life. The activities lined up serve to promote the 4Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical thinking).
