Junior Innovate (JI) Train-the-Trainer (TTT) is a 2-day training programme jointly organised by SCM and Chumbaka, who is an active maker movement industry partner. This year’s TTT was attended by 30 teachers from SK Dg. Nibong, Sk Kampung Penipah, SJKC Yee Ting, SJK Boi Ing, SJK Chung Cheng, SJK Chung Hua Sibu, SJK Thai Kwang, SJKC Chung Sing, SJKC Ek Hua, SJKC Poi Yuk, SJKC Sacret Heart Chinese, SJKC Yak Tee, SK Abang Ali, SK Agama (MIS) Sarikei, SK Bandaran Sibu No. 3, SK Jawa, SK Kg Penipah, SK Maludam, SK Muton, SK Nangka Lidong and SK St Francis Xavier. This TTT was conducted by Dr. Xavier Chee, coordinated by Eileen Ong and facilitated by two volunteers from the foundation: Sharman A/L Kailasa Pillai Mudaliar (FIS) and Mohd Hazami bin Hasnah (FIA).
The Junior Innovate Programme is designed to help the primary school kids develop technical and life skills in the areas of technology, problem-solving, innovation and communication through workshops and competitions since childhood under the guidance and support of the primary teachers. In order to achieve this, JI TTT training was provided to the primary teachers covering Scratch, Arduino with mBlock, prototyping and equipping them with mentoring skills for their students in preparation for the JI competition. This year the competition theme for JI is “A Role Playing Game – My Hero”.
