Hour of Code 2021

Date: 8th Apr 2021 (FIS), 7th Dec 2021 (FIA) & 17th Dec 2021 (BCS)
Venue: Online website platform

The School of Computing and Creative Media (SCM), UTS had successfully hosted Hour of Code 2021 via code.org by Mdm. Eileen Ong and Ms. Khairunnisa Binti Ibrahim. This online Hour of Code event was organized in conjunction with Computer Science (CS) Education Week (CSEdWeek) which was an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the CS field.

The theme for this year’s Hour of Code: #CSEverywhere. This year we have done something special by organizing Hour of Code event not only for foundation students, but also for computer science year 1 semester 1 students. Our goal is to make students aware that computer science is used in every industry and field of study to help solve problems, advance research, create art, keep our infrastructure safe and healthy, and more. We hope this inspires students to connect their passions to CS and continue learning beyond the Hour of Code. Thus, we also invited three senior Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) students, namely Elton Wong, David Lim and Siah Tuong Chuan to share their learning journey in CS studies and the involvement in CS-related activities, events, hackathons and competitions.
